About Erica

The mental health system was not built for mothers. So she built one.

Erica Djossa

Erica Djossa is a registered psychotherapist, maternal mental health specialist, and the founder and CEO of Momwell. She is the author of Releasing the Mother Load, winner of the Gold Literary Excellence Award from the Institute of Child Psychology, and the host of the Momwell Podcast.

Her own postpartum experience showed her how little of the mental health system was designed with mothers in mind. Momwell grew out of that gap: a mom-centered model of care that pairs therapy from maternal mental health specialists with the free education that reaches mothers where they already are.

A mother of three, Erica is a regular contributor to Time, The Washington Post, NPR, and Goop, and has been featured by Snoop Dogg and Ashley Graham. Her next book, Good Moms Get Angry, co-authored with Dr. Ashurina Ream, is forthcoming from Ballantine in April 2027.

Momwell Podcast reviews

“Thank you, Erica, so so much for truly seeing me as a mom. You help me know that I’m not alone AND that my imperfections are part of what make me a good mother.”
